Hainam chicken rice is so named because it derives from the tradition of Hainan cooking arts and its application by the Hainan nomadic Chinese population in the Nanyang region, this version of the food found in Malaysia and Singapore combines elements of Hainan and Cantonese cuisine coupled with the flavors of cuisine in Southeast Asia.
