Emping is an Indonesian side dish that is nowadays also recommended as a snack in the Netherlands. The thin crispy slices of emping are made from the white, almost ripe, peeled nutty seeds of the melindjoe tree that measure 3.5 x 1.8 cm. After being puffed, crushed and dried, the product is finally briefly fried in oil.
